AI live in the UK so have always been a scratch baker. I made a box once as an experiment and added Angel Delight (pudding?) to half of it. Both halves turned out “perfectly fine” and edible but just tasted like a UK shop bought pre packaged cake. I was reading through the scratch/box cake thread on here and someone said they made WASC and their family knew it was based on a box mix from the taste. I had been tempted to make a WASC but now I’m wondering... For those who always bake scratch and family and friends are very very used to scratch baking (typically UK/Ireland/NZ/Oz people by the sounds of things on here) have you ever tried WASC and how did it go down?

This is not a scratch vs box debate(!) just a question that if people have never had a box cake, does WASC taste a bit artificial or do the other ingredients desguise the mix sufficiently for them to only taste a nice cake?

AThe response I got with a blind tasting on family was 'Tastes Cheap! What did you do to your recipe?!'
