I've very recently started decorating and getting orders. After the two cakes I did this weekend my arms MAY fall off! HAHA! I make my own fondant as I'm just starting out it seems to be cheaper since I don't have a lot of cakes but WOW, kneading the fondant, then kneading the color in, then kneading it after the color sets good is KILLING my arms. Like seriously - I'm about to go buy a fondant roller like on cake boss ;)

My question is has anyone ever put color in as the marshmellows melt down to maybe avoid the 13942039423 times I have to knead it the other way around? Any help is appreciated my poor arms can't take much more! :(

You can add the color to the liquid marshmallows before you add the PS for sure, there's also a method that uses colored candy melts, which is a great way to start when you need to make bolder colors.

I feel your pain!  Wait until you are lifting/transporting a 3-tier cake...soooo heavy.  (only did one, won't do another due to having to lift too much)

I no longer make MMF because I hated the kneading and more so, the stickiness!

Michelle Foster Fondant is definitely easier, far less kneading. I highly recommend trying it!   Very cost-effective.  I add the food coloring while it's in the mixer with the powdered sugar.

Good luck!

It gets easier as your muscles develop....seriously! I shock people when they put their hand on my shoulder or upper arms and feel the muscles I have developed there. I tell them caking is not for wimps! :D

AI make mine in the kitchenaid with the dough hook, I really don't have to knead hardly at all by hand.
