Hey guys!! I just finished P90x and am 1 week into Les Mills Pump. Was wondering if anyone else had done either of these workouts and what your experiences were. Lost 21 pounds doing P90x so I think I may actually do it again after the program I am currently doing. Yay!! Got to work all of that powdered sugar I breathe in off somehow. lol.

Congratulations! Losing 21 lbs is quite an accomplishment. I have never heard of the second program but P90X is no joke!

Thanks!! It really wasn't but I enjoyed it. Getting to the end and knowing I could barely make it through the whole thing 90 days ago and now I can was an awesome feeling!! My husband did it with me for the first 60 days which really helped. Then he had to go to Alabama. Silly Army trainings. Les Mills Pump is a rep effect weights workout. Much shorter with some great music. Man does it give you killer legs!! :)

I lost 100 pounds after my daughter was born (yes, i gained 100 pounds). i have never done P90X because I don't really think it is a viable workout to keep going. after you finish it, then what? High impact as well.

right now i work out 7 days a week (ususally i do 6 but i added an extra class on because my favorite instructor was teaching).

Pick bodyPump over P90X. To truly lose weight, keep it off and look better you need to build muscle mass and lifting is the way to go.

I currently do two TRX sessions a week, Body pump one day, spinning one day, my own cardio and weights two days a week  and on sundays I alternate between spinning and HIIT (high intensity interval training).

If you belong to a gym see if they offer TRX. It is truly a life changer and you will lean up and build muscle with that as well as get stronger.

I love Les Mills!  If you just keep increasing the weight it's quick to notice a difference.

My vote is for anything that includes weight training!  I've heard good things about he Les Mills.  I have 3 friends on FB that are Beachbody Coaches, so they post.all.the.time about them ;-)

Weight training builds muscle which burns more fat and looks good!!  Plus, adding strength is always useful.

I actually just became a coach a few weeks ago. I don't burn quite the same calories as P90x but I know it will tone me up really good! :)

Oh it touches those too. lol. Lots of squats and lunges. They do something called halves that kill me. You really feel those the next day. :)

I am really loving it as well. I love that it incorporates running since I have been training for a 5k next month. When did you do it and what were your results?

I think it is a viable option for people that want to do a workout at home. Yes, it is a 90 day workout but it can be done more than once. When I finished it, I started a new program but many people do P90x multiple times. I am doing Pump right now. I am not sure you read what I wrote. I wasn't asking which to do. I lost 21 pounds doing P90x so you CAN lose weight doing it. I have TRX at home. I don't belong to a gym but since my husband is military I can use theirs for free. I have also done a local bootcamp a few times. Did you know Body Pump is a 90 day program as well? It just isn't advertised as that in the gym but if you do it at home, it is 90 days as well. :)

I had no idea that Body pump was a 90 day program. I'm on their website right now and don't see that as listed since it really isn't an every day type workout like P90X, You shoudl never work your muscle groups like that every day.

A

I DID read what you wrote you asked us what our experience was, so then what is your question? which is better? Does anyone on here do both? I guess I'm confused.

And while I am sure you can lose weight with P90X I am just not a fan. I believe to truly lose weight and keep it off you need to lift. Incorporating both programs or a combo of a cardio and Body Pump is best.

Hold on- is there a Les Mills PUMP and a Body Pump? Maybe they are different things.

AWell lets just say I once knew a guy who was a Body Pump instructor, and he had quite the body...;)

If you want to make a change in your life make it something you can stick with. Doing a high intensity workout for 90 days is great but you have to have a plan for what you'll do afterwards to maintain the weight loss or it will just creep back on. The strain that starting and stopping these workouts puts on your body is really unhealthy.

P90X was awesome for me, and led me to Crossfit.  I LOVE it, love the intensity, love the results.

Congrats on becoming a coach.  I've seen my friends do amazing things for themselves and others.  I just love to give them a hard time about their constant posts.  They give it back to me when I post things about my Crossfit obsession, lol.

Mbrako. It was just a question of whether anyone else had done them. Wasn't looking for advice since I have already bought them. I completed one and am doing the other. Les Mills Pump is the DVD version of Body Pump (the gym class workout). You do the same exercises but at home to the DVDs. 90 day program. Not sure you have really done your research when it comes to P90x. You work different muscle groups everyday. There are 3 strength days, 2 cardio (plyo and Kenpo) and 1 yoga day. Then you get a rest day. Results don't lie. I will agree that it isn't for everyone but I know tons of people that have lost weight doing it AND keep it off. Going to the gym everyday is the same. You can sign up for 4 weeks of a spin class but after that, then what? You can sign up for a year long gym membership, but then what? It is all up to you whether you keep up with your fitness or not, no matter the program. Lifting weights isn't the only way to lose weight or keep it off. You DO use weights in P90x on the two arm days but the weight and reps is up to what you're trying to accomplish. If you don't like it, you don't like it, but some of the things you are saying aren't correct.

rsquared...I have heard great things about CrossFit. They have a gym near me that my friend wants me to try out with her.

kikiandkyle...the people in the video have some awesome bodies as well. lol. Jealous!!

Congrats. Not sure what you are upset about. We have differing opinions. It happens. I didn't make you comment on here. I do cardio and weights. Pump is a great combo of both. I just happen to be passionate about P90x because it did such great things for me. You are passionate about your way of doing it because it is what worked for you. Different strokes for different folks, you know? There is more than one way to workout. Isn't that why there are so many classes, dvds, and bootcamps? If your nutrition is right, most any workout can work for you if you commit to it.

I've done P90X earlier this year in Jan, then continued on with Insanity. I love Insanity waaaaay more than P90X.

However, needless to say, unfortunately I lost nothing LOL doing both. Then again, I probably don't have anything much to lose being 5'2" at 108lbs-110lbs, so...I guess I'm really aiming at keeping fit and healthy rather than losing fat.

Right now I'm doing free workouts from FitnessBlender (fitnessblender.com) which I totally *heart* . I love fitness as much as I love baking and am always thinking of both at all times ha ha.

Happy to know there are friends here on CC with the same interest. ;-D
