How To Create Hedgehog Spikes?

AHi! Does anybody know how to recreate the spikes on this cake? Is there a nozzle or tool I can use? I have the wilton grass nozzle but it didn't have the desired 'spiky' effect.

It looks like the decorator used a #2 or #3 writing tip (small plain round) and applied the spikes one at a time to get the desired effect.

I was looking at a cake decorators site the other day and she does everything from wedding cakes through to those star tipped design cakes (she seems to mainly do them for kids birthdays). I could not imagine sitting there doing that!! It would drive me nuts!
