ASo I'm a fan of my old jobs facebook page, I really do like the business. Today they posted a picture of a wedding cake that I did while I worked there with a couple of other things. Saying that weddings are their specialty and that they produce amazing wedding cakes. Someone commented "wow, whoever made that cake is talented!"(really it was a plain wedding cake, its in my pictures). And they responded that it was the owner and that she is a "cake wizard". Anyways, I guess its not really a big deal. Just mildly irritating. Felt like telling someone.

AYou have the right to be irritated! Any chance the person who posted it didn't know it was made by you though?

AThey have a photographer who posts on the facebook. But she was there waiting to take the picture while I was stacking. I understand that it would be embarrassing to say " a woman who no longer works here made the cake" but then, why use that pic for your advertising?

AI worked for a person who would post pictures of cakes, as usual, but when someone complimented her on a cake I made, she never gave me any credit. Not even a 'thanks, I had help on this one.' It was mildly irritating, but what are you gonna do, right? Start a cat fight in the middle of the bakery?

ALol, no. I don't even want to comment on the post. What really upsets me though is the way my job ended there. I went on an approved vacation and we agreed that I would have a different work schedule when I came back (less hours for summer). So when I come back I call, I go in, I text. No responses. I even went in to leave her a personal note of ways to get into contact with me. And then after waiting for two weeks wondering about the schedule, we had a family emergency and my mother in law died. We had to move to go take care of my hubs younger brother and be close to his sister. I went in and called several times and wanted to give her my two weeks notice because that woukd be the right thing to do even though she flaked. And still no response even then. Now they are using cakes that I've done to advertise for them and I don't understand. Not even some decency to talk to me? But still use my work that you cant do to benefit yourself?

sounds like they consider the work of their past employee, the property of their business; with all the rights of use. 

If your work was described as 'amazing' and they put it out as a showpiece of their business, then your talent is substantial.  That is with you always.

AYeah, unfortunately anything you made while employed there is for them to do with as they please, but they certainly didn't need to lie about it.

How long before their lie is revealed? when they cannot deliver on their false promise the lie will be exposed and their problem will be self-inflicted.

Chin up, you feel dumped and rightly so. Yet consider that had you stayed there how many other dishonest hurtful things they could have done to you? You may find that you have been saved from a much more unpleasant experience with that company.  What comes next may be so much better in comparison that you'll be glad that you picked yourself up and moved on.

AI already feel satisfied that someone understands. Thanks ladies I hope that the advertisement attracts brides and I hope they do well with it. My boss was taking classes a lot, always trying to improve. I hope that she will succeed. I really loved that place, it sucks when things go sour.

what about copyright was it YOUR design. If so then it is illegal and if you have proof you could do something about it.

AIt's not illegal. Any work she produced while being paid by the bakery is theirs.
