haha, wow, stealing a pic is bad enough, but watermarking it as your own? dang... I'd be getting snarky and posting the original picture in a comment.

What's funny is some people have just posted links to the original cake and she hasn't commented or removed any of the posts, which I am surprised at since she deleted my post early this morning.

*Update

So we are a power bunch of bakers and I am so happy you all helped me expose her stealing ways.  So she either closed her Facebook page or they took it down.  I also just checked her website and she has taken a lot of the photos down.  She still has a few Pink Cake Box pics up and I have no idea about the others if they are hers or not but I am glad she removed the ones she did and I hope she does the last few I see.

AUnbelievable what people will do. If I showed photos to a client and said that I could make the same cake, I would be so embarrassed when they received the cake and it looked crappy. Her work must be crappy if she is stealing/using without permission photos from others.

AIt will come back to bite her. When a customer orders one of "her" cakes and she doesn't deliver, bad reviews. I would flip if I ordered a cake and got nothing like what the picture was, for the price of a well made cake, I want everything I pay for.

AI did tweak the recipe a bit... But thank you for taking the time to find that. Also, the birthday cake with the animal theme is one I've been wanting to try. A friend asked me about it.

Yes, I baked that cake, from that recipe. I never claimed this cake was mine.

So is the picture in your avatar of the cake you baked or does it belong to someone else?

Hmm. But if Paramount wasn't compensated for the above image, then it's stolen, too.

I am confused. Maybe its because of the morphine I am on. Just out of knee surgery several hours ago. I was asking about the Reeses Peanut Butter Cup cake and who the photo belonged to. Now you have me curious. Who actually did the Lego cake and took the photos?

This woman is so making me mad.  She is the most unbelievable person I have ever encountered.  So after she took her facebook page down yesterday (and after I had updated this thread) she sends me a mean nasty email calling me names saying I'm just jealous and she is going to take legal action against me.  And she stills says that all the pictures of 100% hers and that my work is nothing compared to hers.  I emailed back with pictures from the original owners that she had on her site, I never once called her a name or cussed like she did or said anything in a mean way.  She emails back again cussing and saying I got all of the ones on here that commented on her site to post negative comments and lie about her on her facebook page.  She has also said that she has taken a lot of my customers from me and they all say that they did not like my cake, blah blah blah.  She is just something else.  Her facebook page is back up with all the stolen pictures (I think) gone and the same on her website.

Honestly, I would stop responding to her. If she doesn't have the money to take her own decent pictures, she definitely doesn't have the money to hire a lawyer. She's just going to irritate you more as you keep responding. Let her drive herself crazy instead!

I agree, stop responding. Getting in to an angry back and forth with her will accomplish nothing.

AYeah, when you're dealing with someone that disconnected from reality, you won't win. It's too bad. but there is no end to this in the foreseeable future.

I absolutely agree with the previous few posts, I will not respond and I know I should not have responded in the first place.  I was just so upset and mad that she would turn this all around on me and call me names and bad mouth me for just pointing out the stolen pictures she is trying to say is hers.  In my email I told her this did not have to turn public, all she had to do is take the photos down and no one would be the wiser and I would never have given her site out to anyone.  She is the one the posted the message about her cakes being 100% hers and all that and refusing to take them down.  I totally hate drama and try to avoid it at all costs and I guess I should have left her site and never sent her the initial email about the pics but I felt it was kind of like 20/20's What Would You Do segments.  So what would you do if you saw someone trying to pass stolen pictures off as their own? Would you say something or not?  Well I guess I would and did. Regardless I am totally done with her.

On the Star Trek picture someone posted, they never posted it and tried to pass it off as them in the picture nor did they make any money on posting it so Paramount would not need to be compensated and the picture is not stolen.

I beg your pardon? I advertise on Craigslist and I am not lazy, ignorant nor am I stupid. To make that blanket statement regarding "people" can be perceived, in itself, ignorant. Perhaps, this indiviual was wrong..I don't know nor do I care but it was brought to her attention and she is now informed. I am sure, given her educational background, that she will take the proper steps of due diligence. CC let's stick to why we're here..to learn caking from each other..to uplift each other..to fix someone else's crisis...to encourage and empower!!!  I guess I try to see the glass half full and give people the benefit of doubt.  No need to belittle.

I said Craiglist was full of lazy, stupid people... not that all people who use it are stupid.  I agree that most people are reasonable, but I'm sure even you can agree that there are a lot of people there that aren't.  And the ignorant comment was in response to a previous comment about wanting to believe that people who do certain things (like use pictures that don't belong to them) are doing so out of ignorance... as in, not knowing any better.  I certainly didn't mean to imply that you or anyone else who uses Craiglist is ignorant!  That comment was solely about people who do things that they know they should not be doing.

Definitely was not meant to offend you or anyone here.

I just joined this site as it was recommended to me. Now I am seeing that many people seem rude and unwilling to actually help... I see lots of complaints about other bakers etc. Seems to me if people spent half the time baking cakes as they do complaining about others' then this whole thread would not exist. O'well.
