How do i add fondant decorations to SMB cake?  I tried to add small decorations (polka dots) to my cake after the SMB was hardened in the fridge. However,  the fondant just kept on sliding down the cake. How do i make the decorations to stick?

Thanks!

perhaps your fondant pieces are too thick? i have never had them slide off, and I use IMBC, which is essentially the same. I crumb coat, chill, final coat, add decorations, chill.

Must be too thick and heavy, I do the same as Ella, and don't have that problem. I use SMBC, but there's not much difference if any.

Maybe the key phrase is "after the SMBC was hardened in the fridge."  Did you apply a wee bit of your icing to the back of the fondant polka dot?  A bit a water, gel, anything at all?
