Tactful Way To Email Wedding Couple...

I'm wondering what everyone emails to a couple who has contacted you for a wedding cake, sounds extremely interested, but then, for whatever reason,  just doesn't book.  I feel like I want to at least address it and leave the conversation saying "Best Wishes" or something, without sounding rude or judging...

How do you other business owners address this??

After I reply to someone that inquires, and I don't hear anything, I will send a short one that says something to the effect of "was there anything further I could assist you with regarding your request?" And I leave it at that.

Another thing you can say is something along the way of I've had another inquiry for the same date as yours and since you contacted me 1st I'm giving you a chance to complete yhou order.

That's a lovely email, if I got that I'd consider ditching the cheaper guy and coming back to you! :-)

This is what I send, but I do like the wording by DeliciousDesserts...  would you mind if I adapted mine to include some of your wording, please?

 

Dear 


 

This is just a courtesy email to enquire whether you would like to go ahead and book the date you enquired about?

 

As you can appreciate I do get lots of enquiries and therefore have a 10 day holding period from the date I send out quotes. 

 

Please feel free to come back to me if you have any queries regarding your cake, but please be advised that after 10 days the date is released to further potential enquiries and so I cannot always guarantee the date will be available for you after this time.  

 

If I do not hear from you I will assume you no longer wish book the date and I wish you all the very best for your forthcoming wedding.

ARelznik, absolutely.

May I ask, do I understand you hold the date for 10 days? Wow. You are generous.

I don't hold a date till there is money & policies contract in my hot lil hand. I sometimes hold consults, for the same wedding date, during the same week.

To be honest, no, not really....  I send that as a bit of a "hey...  are you going to book or not?" I would usually send that after about a week if I hadn't heard anything, just to try and worry them into booking if they haven't done so but plan to.

 

LOL!

 

If someone else came along with a deposit in the meantime, I'd grab it with both hands!!!!! icon_wink.gif  Sadly, I don't get to do many wedding cakes (maybe 6 - 8 a year).
