hi,

has anyone used agar agar in place of gelatin for their fondant recipe?

I would like to hear how the fondant turned out, and a link to your recipe.

Thanks! :)

Someone on here posted that they had substituted it using a 1:1 and it turned out fine. However, if it is due to vegetarianism, you can find marshmallows (depending on your location) that do not contain gelatin. Or use marshmallow fluff instead of marshmallows. They aren't vegan substitutes, but they are vegetarian friendly.

Thanks for replying. I did search to see if anyone has tried it, and came up with people wanting to try it. Didnt find "experiences." Do you mind telling me what's the title of the thread or a reference?

Also, I did my MMF, and it turned out great, just wanted to experiment with agar agar using Michel Fosters fondant recipe. :)

I honestly don't remember. But this one has a link to a recipe for fondant using agar agar flakes though. http://cakecentral.com/t/746002/agar-agar-conversion-for-gelatin-michele-fosters-fondant

AI think I remember seeing a recipe for agar agar fondant and gumpaste on Scott Clark Woolley's website.
