So I'm making a couple 2 tier birthday cakes soon! One for my friend's 30th and one for my own 30 two months later :)
What I'm planning for my friend's one, who's birthday thing is happening on the 22nd:
Thurs 20: bake, stack and crumb coat, rest overnight
Fri 21: decorate
Sat 22: serve (or buy a cake to fix Fri night's failure if there was one lol)
I was thinking of a white/vanilla pound cake for the bottom tier, but I have no recipe for this (please feel free to suggest one!) and my Wacky Cake recipe for the top tier.
No sizes just yet, but I only have two 8" pans lol so I might manually cut the top tier slightly smaller or hire smaller pans (6"?). We dont care about how many people we're feeding (2 tiers will more more than enough), we just want a 2 tier cake lol
I was thinking of coating the white bottom tier with dark/milk chocolate ganache and the top chocolate tier with white chocolate ganache.
Will this work? I was going to use a ratio of 3:1 chocolate to cream, will that be ok for stacking? Is there anything I should watch out for (I assume the bottom layer's ganache will shift once the top tier is stacked?).
Any advice is appreciated :) We dont have SPS here, so I'm using bubble tea straws and each layer will be on a foil board.
Anything I'm forgetting?
I just made my first WASC cake and it is yummy! And very firm like a pound cake. If you dont like almond (which I cant taste anyhow) you can use any flavoring. I am new at this too and making. Best of luck to you!

This is fine, but I like to give myself a bit more time. I like my cake to sit over night. I bake, crumb coat day 2, final coat day 3, decorate day 4, serve day 5.
