A client of mine has ordered a cake for her boyfriend for this weekend but could not seem to make up her mind about what she wanted.  So she asked to do both a life size Patron bottle and a beachy theme.  I have my Patron bottle template and all the beachy stuff (palm trees, chairs, shells etc) ready to go, but I am not sure how to put this cake together.  The Patron bottle is the actual cake and everything else will be used to decorate the cake board.  Should I put the Patron bottle in the middle and have everything around it (which in my head looks a little weird) or should I have the Patron bottle off to the side and have the beach scene be the focus??  It is really hard to incorporate a life size Patron bottle into a beach scene full of minitures, please help!!!

Personally I would create a scene with the patron bottle sitting on the sand. If making a base cake/flat cake in addition to what you have is out of the question ... why not just cover the board with some crushed graham crackers and some light brown sugar mixed in (sticking them some frosting) ... poof beach ... forget the mini trees and mini chairs ... scatter the shells on your sand and you are good to go ... perhaps a gumpaste or fondant crab investigating the bottle ;-) or if using the mini chair is important ... will this miniature allow you to put a critter on it? like a hermit crab or snail?

Good luck post a pic when you are done.

AOk this may be silly but it was what popped into my head so I will share my thought. What if you made the patrone bottle into a palm tree by having palm fronds coming from the top Then you could set up all the other smaller pieces in a little beach scene under the "tree". Like I said that may be silly and look ridiculous but it was the first thing I could think of!

Yea she specifically asked for a beach chair and palm trees with a hammock in between the palm trees!!  This is why I am having a hard time tyring to figure out how to set it all up.  I try not to shut down client request, but this one I probably should have thought twice about before I said yes!

I still think if you add a small sea/beach creature to your mini beach vignette that it will pull it all together. A little squid lounging in the hammock? and another squid trying to open the bottle? That might be fun.

Thanks for your suggestions!!  This is how I ended up setting everything up!  I put the bottle on a sand hill and set up a little paradise scene in front!  It was all on a little island surrounded by "water"!  It was a big hit!!
