AYou can't. It has cocoa powder in, and way to much coloring. If you want to make your own, get white cake mix, use butter milk, and a couple drops of chocolate emulsion, and your pink.

When I used it, I cut it with a whole box of white, and still got a very vivid, intense red cake.

If you use cocoa, you would have to use light colored cocoa, and just a pinch or two, or you'll turn it brown. If you use an emulsion, you can add the flavor without the color.

would a small amount of cocoa still make it taste like red velvet?
