AYes, of course you can make it white! Just don't get crumbs mixed in, and don't apply it too thinly.

There are hundreds of icing recipes on here, from cream cheese to crisco, to butter, to whip cream, to pure chemicals. Home made and pre purchased.

What sort are you looking for?

ASomething that will go great with the chocolate cake and that will be great for piping.

AHmm... There are recipes that do it all, and taste vastly different. It all goes with chocolate! Lets see... Do you like grocery store cake icing? Or do you like it richer? Buttery-er? Do you want to smooth it with a paper towel or a hot spatula?

My favorite icing to put on chocolate cake is white wedding. The combination of flavors is so yummy!

I just use a basic buttercream and add almond extract to taste.

AGrocery store icing with a big improvement would be 1 cup butter (room temp) 1 cup vegetable shortening Whip those until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes Then add 1/4 milk Tablespoon clear vanilla Teaspoon clear butter flavor Half teaspoon (real) almond Mix until combined well then add 2 pounds powdered sugar Beat for 5-10 minutes until all light and fluffy. Scrape bowl often. If you're using a hand mixer, add a couple more tablespoons milk before mixing.
