If that is a 10 and 8 inch cake it would be around $126.00 in my area.

AI would charge my cost plus markup. Providing more information about the cake, how long you spent on it, ingredient costs, overhead costs, etc. would help.

AI would say at least $150

But illegal bakers on craigslist would charge $35

BAM!

I would charge $365 before delivery if we're calling this an 8-10. That's just for wooden doweling and i would spray shading on the cake before painting the spots.

I like participating in these new pricing posts, but they aren't helpful unless they all contain the pertinent info.. If the OP could go back and include the sizes of each cake, plus the cake flavor and filling then it wouldn't be such a guessing game..........which really doesn't help us all.

Can we all work together on this for future posts?

Yeah OR.... cake central could create just a section for this kind of question since it happens a lot.  Submitters could fill out a form asking all those questions (size, filling, flavor, fondant, gumpaste etc.) and the pricers could say wether they own a bakery, do it as a hobby, and where their location is (regionally speaking of course).  JUST SAY'N!  Cause I so don't have time for a blog....

AI have an additional fun quest. I would like to start a project where we take an example cake, including all the important information, & the people quoting really recreate the cake!

Sure there are people who will "make this cake" for $35.

When people say "I can get that cake for ---- ", I say "no, you will get A cake for that. You will not get my cake for that."

8" & 10" = $450

6" & 8" = $280

No delivery.

I would, however, use a drum and finish it in a professional manner. I would also have tried to adjust tier sizes to make a three-tiered cake so it doesn't look so squat.
