Peanutbutter Fluff Buttercream

I’ve been wanting to make a kind of lighter pb bc and thought that maybe marshmallow fluff would work. Oh wow, it turned out wonderful! This is a softer frosting than regular buttercream but it will crust over after about 7-10 minutes.

Peanutbutter Fluff Buttercream

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. softened salted butter
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. creamy peanut butter
  • 16 oz. marshmallow fluff (also called marshmallow creme)
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2-3 c. powdered sugar
  • 3-5 tbs. half and half , light cream or heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Cream together butter and shortening first, add the pb, and cream that in. Add the fluff and vanilla and blend thoroughly. Slowly add the powdered sugar *to taste*, once it’s the right amount of sweetness add in the half and half until the frosting looks smoother.

This is an absolute hit! It has been one of our favorites since we first tried it for my daughters wedding cake last summer.

What kind of shortening are you using? Here in California we can't get any good shortening, it's all no transfer stuff. Please advice.

This icing had too much marshmallow cream. It didn't taste terrible, but it didn't taste good. It was just weird and a weird consistency.
