Add a little zing to the dessert course at your next dinner party with this spicy chocolate fondue! This recipe features the flavors of cinnamon, clove, peppercorn, ginger and nutmeg, perfect for enjoying on a chilly fall evening.
1 cup heavy cream
¼ cup whole milk
8 cinnamon sticks, crushed
2 cardamom pods
1 teaspoon whole cloves
1 teaspoon black peppercorns
½ teaspoon ground ginger
½ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
½ pound bittersweet chocolate, chopped
HEAT cream, milk and spices in a medium saucepan until boiling.
REMOVE from heat and let steep for 30 minutes.
STRAIN the mixture and return to the saucepan, discard spices.
BOIL the mixture and pour over chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl, let stand for 5 minutes.
INCORPORATE the cream mixture and chocolate until smooth and uniform.
SERVE warm with fruit.
