Not So Sweet Marshmallow Fondant

I love the way that MMF looks and is so easy to work with, but I always hated the taste, so I have been experimenting.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz Jiffypuff marshmallows
  • 2-3 TBS water
  • 6 cups powdered sugar (use pure cane sugar, so it doesn’t leave gooey bits)
  • 2 Cups corn starch
  • 1/4 cup vegetable shortening

Instructions

  1. You may not need to use all the powdered sugar, just kneed in enough so you dough is not sticky.
Using half of the shortening, grease a large microwave safe bowl, pour in marshmallows and water.

Melt marshmallows and water in microwave until melted

Sift half the sugar and half of the corn starch kneed and continue adding corn starch and sugar until it forms a ball.

knead in the rest of the shortening

Your mixture should not be sticky, but not too stiff either. Hold the ball in your hand and if it doesn’t ooze off of your hand or around your fingers, it should be good.

I use 2 drops Lor Ann butter rum flavor to my melted marshmallows, taste delicious!
