This also works with raspberry jam/jello for a raspberry filling.
Ingredients
1 small jar SEEDLESS strawberry jam
1 small box strawberry jello
Instructions
Pour the powdered jello in a bowl.
Nuke the Jam for one minue.
Pour jam into bowl with jello.
Stir until dissolved.
Refrigerate overnight if possible.
Note: If you find it is too firm to spread, nuke for a few seconds. Always pipe a buttercream dam and do not fill filling above dam. This filling will soak into cake, so I recommend spreading a light layer of buttercream down first.
thecakediva40...absolutely. I make it 24 hours in advance so the jello and jam can set back up. I pipe a dam and spread a thin layer of buttercream because it will seep into the cake. Some call that "moist"...I call it soggy.
Excellent and tasty filling, but you definitely need the frosting dam, and a strong tall one too! I tripled the recipe for a 12-9-6 and even had some leftover. I will try this same formula with other jello mixes :)
ginny...my walmart only has one size and brand of SEEDLESS jam. The jar I get is a "normal" small one. It won't hurt if it isn't the same exact size. This is a very user-friendly recipe. Use what you can find.
lv2kayak..I don't worry about the cake being refrigerated. I've had berry filled cakes at weddings that I know sat out for HOURS. I've left a jar of jam out on the counter for hours also.
I made this and used it in a cake with some strawberry buttercream and they LOVED it. Thanks so much for posting this. They are all asking for more!!!!!
I made this as well and I see what you mean by a strong frosting dam. Looked like my cake was bleeding. lol My family loved it and asked me to make another one right away. Thank you for sharing your recipe.
Will this filling work for a jelly roll also?
Not sure. I've never made a jelly roll. Sorry.
Can these work for wedding cakes?
