I love this cake! I can't believe how detailed it is. You did great work. I am a total novice -- did you pipe the royal icing onto wax paper or something and then place it on the cake once it was dry? What recipe did you use for the frosting? I like the two different brown tones.
thanks for your lovely comment! I did the rails on wax paper with royal icing. I decided to pipe the ship in (store bought) fudge frosting for the sides of the ship and then mixed a tablespoon of canned white frosting with a 1/2 can of fudge frosting to get the contrasting brown color. I did try milk chocolate frosting first but it was not dark enough...thanks again!
