This was made for a New Year's celebration. It is supposed to be the chrystal ball that drops at Times Square at midnight. Cake was vanilla - made in ball pan and the "chrystals" were home made candy stuck on with buttercream icing
Just For Fun!
This was a variation of a cake that my son and nephew picked out of Kate Sullivan's book kate's cake decorating. This was my MMF test cake with the basket weave they wanted to see over it and candy clay birds and flowers in a color I had handy. I made it and then we ate it!
A co-worker had me make this for someone that was celebrating a milestone birthday but didn't want a cake for his birthday. He did however want everyone to know that over the last year he had walked/run 1 mile every day. I put the 365 miles in 365 days around the cake sides along with the royal icing runners and decorated the top for his hobby - country line dancing.
I did this for the YMCA where my son goes for before and after school care. Everyone sends stuff in to the class rooms but never to the "Y". I made this from a picture they had on the bulletin board. This is the cake I was going to use the glaze on when it didn't turn out so I just used the outlines. They didn't seem to mind. My son picked out strawberry cake for this one.
I made this for a Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation banquet planning meeting. This is their motto. It was vanilla cake filled with strawberry and iced in creamcheese icing with the edible image. They have asked me to donate an identical cake to be auctioned off at the banquet.
Christmas Poinsettia Cake
This was done for a Christmas gathering at my Mom's house. Chocolate cake with vanilla Satin Ice over buttercream with purchased flowers.
Bushel Of Crabs
This cake won the Governor's cake class at the State Fair. My family and I got to me the Governor because of this one! Layered white cake with buttercream. Sprayed wilton coloring under the fondant slats. Slats brushed with cocoa powder for coloring. Crabs were molded fondant sprayed with wilton coloring. The cake had to be in the theme of Maryland and of course "Maryland is for Crabs!" Please ignore the other cakes in the photo, they are not mine
This cake won the celebration cakes division at the state fair. I made a mold to mold the roses for the top. Rope and tassle made with clay extruder. Two layer vanilla cake with buttercream and fondant.
His Shower Cake
This was my brother in law's "shower" cake. The shower was a his and her shower. This one went with the green calla cake. His cake was chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream and rolled buttercream icing. trimmed with molded chocolates that I made. Could also be used as a grooms cake!
This was for my nephew's 3rd birthday. Strawberry cake with buttercream and rolled buttercream. Chocolate molded trains and food coloring painted wooden magnetic train.
This was one of two cakes I entered at my local fair (first competition ever). I entered this in the novelty cake division and it took 1st place! I didn't get a picture before wrapping it to take to the fair.
Butterfly Gift Cake
This was the 2nd cake I entered at the local fair. It was entered as a Celebration Cake. This cake took first place and best of show at the fair. It also generated the order for the 23 centerpiece wedding cakes. This was my first loopy bow and my first competition cake.
