Elephant Baby Shower
Not my best work... very last minute. I literally had 4 hours of notice! Fondant elephant, yellow cake and vanilla buttercream.
Naked And Flowery
I made the wedding cake for my niece's wedding. I think I did a good job for not caking for such a long time.
Winter Lake - From The Island Cakes
With so many beautiful Island Cakes during the Summer I had this one going on in my mind. Thought why not put it out here....I may be a bit early but hey ideas can't wait can they?
Robin Hood With Dragon
I got to make this cake for my friend's son who loves Robin Hood and dragons. The body of the dragon was vanilla cake with raspberry filling and vanilla buttercream. The tail and head of the dragon were made out of Rice Krispie Treats. Little Robin Hood was gum paste, fondant, and modeling chocolate.
Star Wars Death Star
My daughter-in-law and I made this cake for her Dad’s birthday. It was an orange cake with orange buttercream!
Heron Birthday Cake
I have always wanted to do a cake version of a heron painting I have in my bathroom. This tall cake is two layers of strawberry with cream cheese icing and two layers of vanilla with French vanilla buttercream. The Heron is painted on fondant. Sea grass is made of edible wafer paper. Shells are fondant.
Anui - Indigenous People Of Japan
This Anui gentleman was my entry in the Japan - An International Cake Collaboration, hosted by the wonderful Raquel Garcia. He is 14 inches tall, made of modeling chocolate with clothes of fondant and headpiece of fondant and wafer paper. The whole thing is painted with a combination of dry brush and petal dusts mixed with vodka.
Here Comes The Train!
Another birthday cake for my sweet little rascal. He is stuck in the train stage...Doesn't want to let it go. Soooo, mom made a cake for him with a chocolate train. Of course, the rascal that he is complained: "Mom, I wanted a birthday cake... not a birthday tart!" Oh... where is Herod when I need him! Anyway, tart or cake he loved the train and the realistic landscape. The tart is called San Diego, is was originally designed to be a petit four. Base of sweet tart dough, one layer of chocolate hazelnut paste and the top layer of pistachio almond paste. Very rich and fulfilling indeed. Decorated with hazelnut-chocolate paste tracks and borders, ground pistachios, cocoa powder and tart dough crumbs.
