The bottom cake is baked in a children's ring form (used to me mine, when I was a kid, the ball is baked in the Wilton sport's ball. I inserted a muffin into the inner ring, to support the ball. Dowelled everything to hold it in place. I wanted the ring form, bc i thought the slightly slanted sides looked natural to a snowglobe. Everything is ice in bc, smoothed and then the decoration piped on with a round tip, smoothed again
it looks as though the base may be splitting from the weight of the ball on top..perhaps you can carefully remove the ball and dowel the base, patch the crack then replace the ball on top. You can use some straws to dowel with if you don't have any wooden ones. It is an adorable design..
I Have doweled them with 3 dowels and placed a muffin in the middle., so that the weight of the ball rests on that. It's stopped splitting thank G... and I have patched up the split, no-one can see it now.
