Nancy's Birthday Cake
My first MMF and first whimsical style cake...I've been wanting to try one, and finally had an "excuse" - my sis in law's BD. This was fun and I learned a lot! Apple/carrot cake with buttercream and MMF. MMF decorations. My niece and nephew loved the fondant! Nancy was thrilled - just like a little kid. Made all the effort very worth while!

What are twirlies on the top and the 'Happy Birthday' made from? This is great first whimsical cake.
I used Wilton's gum paste for the twists and lettering. The twists were formed on wood dowels. They are painted with gold dust. The lettering is much harder than I thought it would be!
