Granny's Tea Hat Birthday Cake
The hat cake was made for an English Style Tea Party birthday celebration. All the guests were asked to come dressed up for tea wearing dresses, hats and gloves. The chocolate cake had a mocha buttercream and was covered in fondant. The cake was fashioned after Granny's favorite tea hat and was life sized, it fooled a couple of guests who wanted to try it on!

Hi Kath,...it's Tonie...I love this cake
I have a picture of my Nana wearing a hat that looked just like that....super!!!!!!
Sorry for the delay nu2cakes. 7" x 4" springform used for main body of hat, torted. Two layers of 9" x 2" cake formed the brim. Brim was stacked then cut on an angle so that top edge formed a 7" diameter round. Cake was assembled using mocha buttercream then covered with ivory fondant. Ribbon and fantasy flowers were made from the same fondant. Edges of flowers dry painted with pearl dust.
