My First Wedding Cake

My First Wedding Cake on Cake Central

This is my first wedding cake made for an ex-colleague. The top and bottom tiers were covered with buttercream while the center tier was covered with fondant and buttercream scroll. Got the inspiration for the color and design from the wedding invitation card. The rest inspired by whyteicing's Sampler Cake and many other round wedding cakes of CC. Thank you so much for sharing.

Thank you. The piping works are all first time except basketweave which I'd done with smaller tip many years back. I just realised my commenting function was off (don't know since when). Hope to receive feedbacks from CC members. TQ.

Gorgeous. I love that you used a combination of cupcakes and cake, its a modern twist on a traditional looking cake. I like to contrating designs tied together by colour too. Very nice job, are you sure this is your first wedding cake??? :P

I love the way you mixed so much into one cake. Your piping is perfect. Love the idea of a few cupcakes but not the whole cake being cupcakes. Great job.

Thank you all for the wonderful comments. Yes, my very first wedding cake :) Thanks to CC and everybody for posting pictures and in forums. That's my biggest tutorial. I mixed Wilton's gel color: burgundy, brown and a little black to get the shade. Took me more than an hour or close to two to get there...giving me painful arms and causing the fondant to dry out. :ouch: Thank God the buttercream covered the flaws.

I love your cake....This is my favorite cake......I'm needing to make red scrolls on a white cake to match roses for the top...Any suggestions, the cake store had said use maroon and a little red. It looks too pink...Help.

I used Wilton Icing Color (not gel) burgundy, brown, a little black and a local brand liquid dark red to get the shade. If you are doing red, I read in CC forum you start with pink and then red. Do check out the forum, I think it's under "How do I".
