Thanks again everyone...to HeatherDawn, the tops were just cakes baked in metal bowls and then flipped over. For the cake board, I just found some "dirt" patterned scrapbooking paper and covered the board with that and then covered that with clear contact papar (mactack?). It was a 14 inch board so it took three sheets.
