Military Retirement Anchor Cake

Military Retirement Anchor Cake on Cake Central

I made this cake for a friends US Navy Retirement Ceremony. It was my first time using fondant. I loved it. The rope I painted with food coloring. Thank you 'PinkCakeBox' for the idea and inspiration, I would never have thought of this on my own.

WOW..I can't believe this is your first time using fondant!! It's flawless! I love the rope border! Great job!

Thank you for your nice comments. The rope is rolled fondant then I painted on it with a paint brush and gold food coloring gel mixed with a little water.

So how did you paint on the food coloring on the rope? And is this carved from a 13x9 cake?

Very well done! It really looks great, especially for a first time (I can't believe you did so much with your first fondant usage!)! It's such a cool design, too!!
