Boy Baby Shower Cake

Boy Baby Shower Cake on Cake Central

This cake is buttercream with fondant accents. I added gum-tex to bow loops for firmness. I almost had a panic attack the night before the cake was due...it was very humid and the loops would NOT dry!!! Luckily, they finally firmed up enough to put the bow together.

I cut strips of fondant mixed with gum-tex...some about 6" long some about 4" long. I attached ends of strips with piping gel & squeezed together. Then I shaped the loops and stood them up on their sides to dry on some wax paper. After dry, cut ends into points so the loops can be arranged in a circle & ends fit together like a puzzle. I kind of "glued" them all together with buttercream, but it probably would've worked better with royal icing. Then I arranged the smaller loops on top same way.
