This is so cool, Betty! He will love it!
Thanks Sandra, This type of cake is NOT my cup of tea. This one especially was difficult because of the humidity, it was terrible on Friday. That frosting was sooooo wet. Never had that problem before. They loved it of course but I didn't like the way it looked, couldn't get it smooth enough.
Betty, I feel your pain! Although our house is air conditioned, it seems like I always struggle with buttercream. Of late, I have been filling and crumb coating with buttercream and finishing with ganache. I hate fondant, tastes like sweet rubber to me.
I had AC but that didn't seem to help. Of course it could have just been me wanting to get the cake done & out the door. I don't do TR/CR cakes for sell and that's what a lot of the kids want today, things they see on TV. I did this one only because it was for a friend. I'd rather do flower cakes any day.:)))
I agree, Betty! I've only ever got to do two pretty cakes for an actual order. The others are novelty or children's cakes, which are fine, but I long to do pretty.
