Lilacs And Wolf

My contribution to the World Lupus Day Sugar Art Collaboration. Red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting, gum paste lilacs and leaves, the wolf is painted on fondant with petal dusts and coco butter, the grass is coconut.

I love this cake. Did you use a cutter for the lilac blossoms? I can’t find a four leaf cutter & did some without but am not happy how they turned out.

Thank you so much, Helena!  No cutters. Look closely at the unopened buds.  I twiddled a small amount of gum paste onto the wire, leaving a rounded bulb at the very top.  I then cut, using small scissors, across the top of the bulb once, then a second time in the opposite direction, forming an +.  I then used my dresden tool to elongate and thin each petal.  It takes about a million, so I did it while my husband and I were watching TV.
