Hubby's Tropical Birthday Cake

s cake. I've never carved or shaped a stacked cake. So, decided I had to go for a rustic fun look, rather than the perfectly shaped pineapple I couldn't achieve. Cake is, of course pineapple, filled with pineapple curd and pineapple bc. Used a small square cutter to create the marks on the pineapple, dusted with colour dust to look realistic. Leaves are made from coffee filter paper. Wanted to create a tropical look to match the pineapple, so added two dummy tiers. Bottom tier, marble fondant effect tiles. 2nd tier bark/crackle effect using wafer paper. Used tutorial by Angela Morrison. Hibiscus is made from clay craft clay, free formed. Plumeria flowers are gumpaste. Finally got to use the bargoon barn board wallpaper I bought for the background.

Thanks Teri.Dont get to make msny cakes, so I love doing up cake dummies with fun looks. I'm really looking forward to a slice!

Believe it or not Teri,  background is wallpaper!!! Was buying paint, and they were selling off tons of discounted wallpaper rolls for 50 cents a roll. So I bought 4 interesting patterns. This woodgrain was one of them.
