Box Of A Dozen Rozes

Box Of A Dozen Rozes on Cake Central

The entire box of roses is a cake. It is a 3 layer white sponge cake baked and carved into a shoe box shape and filled with white buttercream then crumb coated in buttercream. The box was shaped out of gumpaste over a real women's shoe box carefully lined with waxed paper. After drying for a minimun of three days, it was airbrushed with gold edible paint, then attached to the sides of the cake with royal icing. The lid was done in the same way. The bow was also made out of gumpaste and I put it in place after the gold pain was dry on the lid.. I lined the box with green fondant to look like the green tissue florists use in a box of roses. I made the long stemmed roses out of gum paste and attached them to floral wires, also attaching the leaves I made from gum paste; after drying completely overnight, the roses were airbrushed. These were done ahead of time, days before making the cake. I then placed them carefully in the box like a dozen roses would be placed and made a little note card out of edible rice paper with edible ink to the birthday girl.
