My First Wedding Cake!!!

My First Wedding Cake!!! on Cake Central

Here it is! French Vanilla cake with regular buttercream frosting, and royal icing roses, and a ribbon around the bottom. Bride picked out the topper. I was so nervous doing this, but very happy with the end results! This design was originally posted here by PaulaTraverso, so thank you Paula, wherever you are! :) Any comments, constructive criticism, feedback appreciated!

Beautiful job. I would never have known this was your 1st wedding cake...looks like it was done by a pro.

Very , very pretty cake~ The only thing I might add would be a little of the blue at the top.....a few flowers??? Maybe add some blue ribbon to the topper???? Just a thought.

Phoov - I originally was going to do flowers for the top, but the bride wanted this topper instead. Gotta make the bride happy! I agree with you, though, it needed more color at the top. I also wanted to run a thinner periwinkle ribbon around the white ribbon to add more color, but she wanted all white, with just a few colored flowers.

did you make some sort of a guide for yourself with the dots that are in a scalloped shape or did you just wing it????

I got great advice on how to do that from antonia74. I just used a cup and made a light impression all around the cake. I started with a small one, and then used slightly larger cups as the cake size increased. Hope that makes sense!
