KayDay, this was one of the easiest cakes I've ever done... she wanted no borders on the layers. The bottom cake is the only one that I put a border on. The roses are real and there was about 8 dozen of them on the top, between the layers and on the table. It made the most beautiful presentation with her backdrops she used . Very plain cake, yet it fit in with her decor. You'd had to been there to have seen it all. It was really beautiful. She told me several times how much she loved it!
Buttercream! I've just taken a class on fondant and think it's awesome to work with but the taste is just awful :( I've gotta find a better tasting recipe for fondant (if there is one). I just rolled the edges down on this cake to get the "fondant" effect.
