This cake was my 2nd attempt for a wedding. Luckily it was for a friend and it was their wedding gift. It kinda looks like a birthday cake, but at the time I thought it was great.
Sugarmama, I have to tell you about the columns. The house the reception was held at was at a doctor's house. He actually helped me to put it together as I couldn't stop shaking. He's like "I have nerves of steel let me do that for you", as he's laughing of course. :D
glad you didn't take offense :-). i like working with buttercream, too (haven't quite got the hang of fondant & have never tried royal icing). this is going in my favourites, as inspiration for my future cakes.
i think it's beautiful, too! I love everything about it....except maybe the topper, because the colour doesn't quite match. I especially love the heart-shaped "frame"....was it done in royal icing?

You're brave for it being your 2nd cake, I still can't bring myself to try the columns. Great job.
