Death By Chocolate!

Death By Chocolate! on Cake Central

First try at doing this one. Learned a few things. The chocolate triangles were a little too thick and sank into the icing. My mom took it to work and said no one wanted to be the first one to cut into it. Chocolate...I would have been first in line!

My mouth is watering! This looks sooooo delicious. As good as this looks, I probably would have been first in line too. Great job.

I used the bottom of a spring form pan (the same diameter as the cake) and I think some saran wrap at the bottom and then poured the chocolate in to make a disc. I swirled white chocolate just to add some color. Once the chocolate was set, I scored it and got my triangles. The icing is chocolate buttercream.

This particular batch was 1/2 butter, 1/2 crisco, powdered sugar, vanilla & butter extract, cocoa powder and water and a little salt. It's a pretty standard recipe. I added a little extra water so the icing was soft, but I didn't have much on decorations, so that was not a problem.

Great looking cake. I love the lines on the side. I bought a big kit to make dif. details on the side, but I haven't had a good out come with it yet. Yours looks great.
