I made this cake almost one year ago and realized I hadn't posted it. It was made for a cake competition and I received a second place ribbon in my category. I had never made any real sugar flowers at that point and I love peonies so I chose to make those. I wanted to do something new and challenging for the competition and for me this was. I also wanted a very simple elegant look to the cake. Its real cake covered in MMF, stenciled with royal icing and gumpate peonies.
