I made this cake for a drummer's December birthday. The drums are RKT, the cymbals are gumpaste and I used dowels to support everything. There are two dowels hot glued in a "T" shape to support the tom-toms on the bass. For the snare and floor tom I used dowels and stuck them through the cake and into the drum only as far as necessary to keep the look "floating", then glued in place with royal icing. I also used toothpicks glued with royal on the sides of the snare dowel to give the proper support look. I really hope this makes sense! My husband plays the drums so I had a lot of help with the look of the supports, lucky for me! TFL!!
