Pirate Treasure Chest Cake

I created this cake for my son's 4th birthday. He had a pirate party! Its 10" square chocolate cake 2 layers for the bottom and a single layer for the lid of the chest. To get the chest to appear as semi-opened I made a rice crispie, triangular wedge which I set in the fridge and then coated in butter cream. The cake is covered in chocolate butter cream (not roll icing) and I piped the design using dark chocolate butter cream. I then arranged the chocolate coins and plastic jewelry within and on the sides of the cake.
