A friend came to me with pictures of cakes surrounded by chocolate pieces and topped with roses that she wanted replicated for her mom's birthday. So here's my version of the cake.

The cake itself is yellow with bavarian cream filling and chocolate buttercream icing. I created white chocolate plaques and attached them to the outside of the cake with melted chocolate. The flowers on the top are fresh roses (separated from the cake with parchment paper and more icing).
