Fun tropical Crab Cake to celebrate my cousins return from Boot Camp. We had the party at our shore house so I wanted to stay with the theme. I decided to go with a cartoon crab made of Red Velvet cake frosted with red buttercream. The claws and legs are made of different sized marshmallows painted with a mix of vodka and red powdered food coloring. The eyes are buttercream with black royal for the pupils to make them googley. The Army Helmet is camo gumpaste. The bottom of the cake is two layers of vanilla cake with ganache center frosted with a few shades of blue buttercream and buttercream decorations. Additional decorations include graham crackers for the sand and chocolate shells made using molds. The sign is made of gumpaste with royal icing writing. This didn't get put on till we got there since we had such a long drive. Inspired by many here on CC.
