I made my own birthday cake because I wanted to, not because i had too. My family has been whispering for weeks. My daughter (18) keeps asking how to make a Key Lime Pie or Lemon Meringue Pie. 7" chocolate cake with raspberry buttercream. Purple fondant over all. (Purple is my favorite color) A butterfly because they are my favorite things in the whole world, a sign of hope, and change. The cake was inspired by Edna De La Cruz's gold and silver swirls. The butterfly was made with gumpaste pushed through an extruder and then shaped over a pattern. The photo is included.
