Shrimp Boil
This was a 10" round three-layer cake covered in MMF with MMF shrimp, corn-on-the-cob, sausage, potatoes and lemon slices. This was on top of an 15x22 sheet cake covered in buttercream and crushed cookie crumb "sand". The newspaper was printed on edible image paper. A million thank yous to Sharon Zambito for the crawfish boil class which made it possible for me to come up with this version. What a fun cake!
Wonderful cake! Can you tell me what colors you used for the shrimp? I am using white MMF and finding it hard to color it two tone. Thanks.
To be honest, I'm not sure I remember - it's been so long since I made that cake! But I'm pretty sure that I used a peach color to airbrush and then maybe either used brown airbrush to highlight or held the airbrush closer while using the peach color to achieve a darker color.... I'm sorry I'm not any more help! I haven't made that cake (or any cake using shrimp) in so long! Actually, maybe I colored my fondant the light peach color and then used the airbrush to highlight and darken with peach color in the airbrush? I know that I used the airbrush on these.
