Devils food cake with buttercream and fondant dots. Mom called and asked for something with ladybugs. This was done along with the "smash cake" to match. Smash cake was made from 3- 4" cakes shaped and fit together. I went the hard route with this. Could also use a ball pan or bowl to get shape.
