This cake was made of "scrap pieces" I had cut off of other cakes, and was "glued" together with buttercream. It did not hold it's shape too well! It was just something for our family to eat on the day of my daughter's birthday, and a way to use up cake scraps and leftover icing. She got a "real cake" on the day of her birthday party. Roses are buttercream, butterflies are gumpaste (my first attempt at a gumpaste butterfly). The butterflies were made ahead, but the entire cake was thrown together in a couple of hours.
