The base cake is vanilla with vanilla buttercream icing, fondant road, & decorated with fondant cacti, fondant boulders, brown sugar sand, small chocolate rocks, & jelly bean rocks. The glowing blue "ghost light" lantern is made with fondant & homemade blue rock candy, with a mini LED light strand running through the cake & inserted into the lantern to make it really light up. Lightnening McQueen is chocolate cake i carved into his shape, frosted in vanilla buttercream, & covered in fondant (with a little pearl dust brushed onto the red fondant). The wheels are mini donuts, cut in half & covered in fondant. One of the boulders on the left side (the view of it is obstructed in this picture) has a voice box in it which we recorded Lightening's voice & engine revving on it. It says: "speed. i am speed. faster than fast. quicker than quick. i am Lightening.". This was my first car cake.
