I did this cake for a woman's 50th birthday. I was told the birthday girl loved purses, purple, and flowers - so this is what I came up with. The purse is 4 8-inch rounds (chocolate cake) filled (vanilla buttercream), stacked, and then carved into a small purse cake. The flowers are typical Fantasty Flowers. The brown strap, button, and corner trim is a 50/50 mixture of Duff's chocolate fondant and gumpaste. While it smells fantastic, I wouldn't recommend mixing the chocolate fondant with gumpaste - it stays way to soft and does not set properly. TFL!
