Pumpkin on Cake Central

This pumpkin cake was for a shared birthday for 2 girls, ages 10 and 5. They requested a chocolate pumpkin cake. The leaves are fondant, painted with gold luster dust and dried in flower former trays over night. The vines are gumpaste wrapped around a dowel until semi-dry. The stem is an ice cream cone wrapped in fondant. I then grooved it with a toothpick, poked holes in the top and painted it all with luster dust. The cake is 2 bundts filled and iced with buttercream. Smoothing it was a challenge, as was getting the right shade of orange! Once smoothed, I used a dowel to make the indentions. It's not perfect, but I still think it's pretty.
