This is one of my favourite cakes. It had a bottom tier of fruit cake and a small top tier which sits under the dome. The bottom tier is covered with marzipan and ivory fondant. It is covered with edible gold leaves and edible gold beads and jewels. Some of the jewels were made form sweets called midget gems which are scrummy. I painted them with glaze to make them shiny. The dome was made with sections of mexican paste supported by a cardboard dome. The joins in teh dome were covered with gold leaves and jewels. The cake matched the colours and surroundings of teh venue perfectly.
