Each of the 3 cakes was 9" x 9" x 3" so that the finished cube was 9 x 9. We bake 2" thick pans so what we had to do is use a 2" thick cake and half of another layer with filling to make each layer of the cube.. we then used a cardboard under each 3" layer.
